Tennis Courts On Site
The ranch has 5 tennis courts, including three artificial turf courts, one of which is lighted for night play. A staff tennis pro(October thru April) is there to help you with your game. Group lessons in the morning provide a foundation for the afternoon mixers.
Biking, Mountain
The mountain biking program provides a fun and different way to explore the desert. Specialized mountain bikes, helmets, and gloves provided by the ranch ensure great biking experiences even for new riders. More level trails are for the novices, while steeper, rocky trails inspire the more advanced. Off ranch excursions provide an even greater perspective.
Ecological Tourism
The Nature center, open most days, allows you the close up view of some of the less approachable desert fauna such as spiders, snakes, and a rather large, ghoulish looking beetle. The Sonoran desert is one of the world's most vibrant deserts.
Hiking
The guided hiking program offers miles of breathtakingly beautiful trails. Hikes range in level of difficulty to allow everyone to participate! Hiking options include level desert hikes as well as excursions into the Coronado Mountains with elevation gains of up to several thousand feet.
Horseback Riding
Tanque Verde Ranch has Arizona's largest stable, with over 150 well trained horses. Riding is offered every day of the week, both walking rides for beginners and loping rides for more experienced riders. The specialty rides offer variety and adventure to the regular riding schedule. Breakfast rides up to the Old Homestead for a cowboy breakfast are scheduled at least twice a week, and should not be missed. All day rides are offered weekly and feature a 6 hour ride with a lunch out on the trail in the mountains behind the ranch. This is a great way to experience the true desert of the Old West! Picnic rides feature a stop in the Cottonwood Grove for a picnic lunch. Beginning and advanced riding lessons and horsemanship classes are offered daily as well and, as with all riding, are included in the rate.
