Woodbridge On The Derwent
With lovely views of the Derwent River, and lush gardens, Woodbridge on the Derwent offers luxurious five star accommodation in a convict built, beautifully restored 1825 Georgian river-front Mansion. Just a 30 minute drive from the Hobart waterfront, the Heritage-listed Woodbridge features a river-front Pavilion, where guests may spot the resident platypus, whilst enjoying a hearty breakfast, or a delicious dinner. Local seasonal produce forms the basis for the cuisine, and the wine list is based on the award-winning local vineyards. The surrounding Derwent Valley is an emerging food and wine destination.
All rooms feature Wi-Fi, heating, air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, and most have open wood fireplaces. All have river views. With only 8 rooms and suites, and a maximum of 16 guests, Woodbridge offers a highly personalized level of amenity and service. Guests can read by the fireplace in the Reading Room, or the Ballroom, and enjoy tea, coffee, fruit, port, and sherry in the Salon. The Amenity Room offers a hot-tub and a sauna, and kayaks and bicycles are available for guest’s enjoyment. The adjacent riverside parklands offer delightful walks and local walking and fishing guides are available on request.
Woodbridge is situated in the heart of the Derwent Valley, 15 minutes from MONA and Bonorong Willdlife sanctuary, 10 minutes from the historic Salmon Ponds and the Agrarian Kitchen cooking school, and a short drive to Mt Field National Park, wineries, whisky distilleries, and micro breweries. The local town offers 9 antique shops, including the highly-rated Drill Hall.
