Excellent hotel. Fantastic service.
A charming 15th century inn with a fascinating history of student sword duelling set in the historic university town of Heidelberg, this superbly atmospheric hotel offers beautifully appointed rooms, two gourmet restaurants and an interesting collection of antique memorabilia. With its cottage-like appearance and pretty shuttered windows, inside you will find snug rooms with wooden beams and exposed stone walls, all of which create a wonderfully romantic atmosphere. The suites are bright and cheerful decorated in floral fabrics, artworks and a mix of antique and contemporary furniture.
Dine in Mensurstube restaurant to get a feel for the history of the inn with its collections of beer tankards, mugs and swords used by the students in swashbuckling duels over the centuries. Take a walk around the picturesque town, along the banks of the River Neckar, across the pretty bridge to the castle that overlooks the old town. Return for a gourmet dinner in Le Gourmet restaurant. Die Hirschgasse Heidelberg is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.
